Review below information before submitting files.

Please review the information in each of these tabs before submitting any files online.

The gcSigns File Upload online makes it easy for you to get your project files to us quickly, so we can expedite your project. Our in-house graphics department can create your sign or take a layout that you have created and deliver a quality product. All electronic graphic files you send, to use for the creation of your sign need to be at a 300 dpi resolution (see the Image Resolution tab). This includes artwork, photos and logo files. It’s important to size your files properly so we can create a quality product.

If you have more than 1 file to upload it would be best to upload them as a single compressed file by following these instructions:

1. Take all the files for the job and put them into a single folder named your company name.

2. Compress the folder as a (.zip) file using Winzip or PK Zip for Windows platform files and as a (.sit) file format using Stuffit for Macintosh platform files.

3. If your files are extremely large you may want to compress them into several archives such as companyname-1.zip, companyname-2.zip, etc. Sometimes it is easier to successfully upload three 25MB files than it is to upload a single 75MB file.

Resolution is the measurement of how many dots/pixels fit into one inch.

The higher the resolution, the sharper the image will be. gcSigns recommends a resolution of 300 dpi (dots per inch) for crisp, clear results. Lower resolution images appear fuzzy, jagged and blurry.

Resolution Rule of Thumb

  • Images should be 300 dpi (dots per inch) at the final size in the layout.
  • Resolution and image size are inversely proportional to each other. Enlarge an image, the resolution decreases; reduce an image, the resolution increases. Example: a 2" x 2" image at 300 dpi (acceptable) enlarged to 4" x 4" has a new resolution of 150 dpi (unacceptable).
  • Low resolution images can not get any sharper or cleaner, and reproduce poorly.
  • The settings used during the original "capture" of an image (ie: scanning, digital camera, etc) determine its base resolution. Resolution can only be improved by decreasing the image size, or by recapturing the image at a higher quality setting.
  • Recommended minimum resolution is 300 dpi; computer monitors generally have a display setting of 72 dpi. If we indicate that some of your images have low resolution, they may not look bad on your monitor but will likely reproduce blurry or jagged.

Things to avoid

  • Web images are predominately low resolution (72-96 dpi) GIF or JPEG files. This resolution is good for faster online viewing but is not acceptable for our use. Do not save images or graphics from a website to use in your sign project!
  • Up-sampling is when a low resolution image is saved to a higher resolution with no changes in dimensions. Up-sampling adds more pixels/dots per inch (dpi), but creates blurry images, ugly blocks of color, and high contrast in images. The only way resolution can be improved is by decreasing the image size, or by recapturing the image at a higher quality setting.

We can take any Mac or PC version

We can take any graphic file from a Mac or PC from the following applications: CorelDRAW!, Illustrator, Photoshop, Freehand in the following output file formats: PDF. GIF, JPG, PSD, AI, TIF, BMP, or PNG. For general project information or layout stetches, not usable graphic files. We can except: Word (DOC), Quark, Publisher, InDesign files. If you have other file formats, we may be able to handle them, too. Just ask!.

What types of storage media do you accept?

If you need to send your files snail mail, we accept CD, DVD or Flash Drives.

How well will my job match what I see on my monitor?

Most people are surprised at how well their job matches what they see on their monitor. But because of wide differences in monitor calibration and the different technologies used, some colors may not exactly match the colors on a your specific monitor. We do our best to make your job look good. Take the time to review colors on your final approval before your sign gets into production.
